Wendel is a supporting character who first appeared in the Nintendo 3DS version of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. He is the son of Fargus and the last free Seeker. Wendel has the ability to release a Skylander from their frozen state using his magic, along with the Portal Master's.

Personality

At first, Wendel was hesitant in his sudden duty to guide the new Portal Master and stopping Hektore, having never accomplished anything without his father's help. He felt that that he wasn't a Seeker even though Fargus said that Wendel was prepared to be one. But over time, Wendel slowly grows into a brave leader in absence of his father, which is noted by the other Seekers. He also has knowledge over parts of the Radiant Isles.

Story

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

Wendel was supposed to take Mystic Seeker evaluations seasons prior, but he kept finding reasons to avoid them. He didn't really understand what his father Fargus was trying to teach him in what it took in becoming a Mystic Seeker.

One day, The Darkness came to the Radiant Isles and brought Hektore with it. The fiend used the power of The Darkness to take over the Radiant Isles and imprisoned the other Seekers to build the Dark Mirror, and Wendel escaped with Fargus to wait for the new Portal Master to arrive. When the Portal Master came, Hektore rediscovered them before Fargus could explain what to do further. In his haste, Fargus quickly gave the title of the Last Free Seeker to Wendel before Hektore emerged from The Darkness to attack them, and allowed himself to be captured in his son's place. Wendel recovered his father's staff and instructed the new Portal Master that they must get to the Sanctuary and that together, they would stop Hektore for good.

With the help of the rescued Mystic Seekers and the Skylanders, Wendel used his power to destroy the Dark Mirror from a beacon that was his staff, and Hektore himself was destroyed shortly after the Mirror's destruction. Wendel was soon reunited with Fargus, who gave the title of a true Mystic Seeker to his son as a gift for his accomplishment. Wendel then informed the new Portal Master that they will forever be part of the Radiant Isles.

Skylanders: Imaginators

In the Nintendo Switch version of Imaginators, Wendel returns and allows the player to transfer a saved Skylander or Creation Crystal from the digital library to a figure, overwriting the figure's existing data.

Skylander Repair

If your Skylander is no longer being registered on the console versions, Wendel can repair them. Place them on the Portal of Power and go up to him with the broken Skylander. He will say the Skylander currently placed on the Portal has an error, and will ask if you would like to reset it. Accept and the Skylander will be fixed, though all progress saved to the figure will be lost.

Forward Compatibility

While this feature does not work on Skylanders or Magic Items from sequel games, it can be used to reset Traps and Creation Crystals containing a Villain or Imaginator. It returns as a feature in the 3DS version of Skylanders: Giants, accessed through the Portaltron 9000 operated by Hugo.

Trivia

  • Wendel's appearance in Imaginators for the Nintendo Switch might be a reference to his usage to reset Creation Crystals, as Hugo already has another purpose in the game. However, he now saves data to the figure, locking in the selected Battle Class.
  • Wendel is the only Mystic Seeker to not have a Radiance Crystal in his headwear, as he doesn't wear a hat.
  • His staff is simpler and smaller in his Imaginators appearance.
