- “Whirling metal shields give you some protection against damage.”
- —Master Eon
When placed on the Portal of Power, the shield reduces the damage taken by the Skylander by 50%. It lasts for about 45 seconds per chapter. The figure can be removed from the portal to save part of the duration for later. When changing or resetting chapters, the shield's duration recharges to full.
In Skylanders: SuperChargers, placing the Sky-Iron Shield on the Portal for the first time will unlock a Legendary Treasure of the same name that can be placed in the hub world. When placed, it my be attacked to generate very little amounts of Coins. It may act similarly to the dummies in Woodburrow from Skylanders: Swap Force.
To use the shield in the 3DS version, it first needs to be added to the game by Wendel in the same way a Skylander would be added. It will then be stored under the R button, which the player can press to activate it. While active, the shield will decrease damage taken. Each activation costs 10 radiance.
At the moment, the shield doesn't do anything other than expanding the collection and counting towards the Collector medal.
- The Sky-Iron Shield shares a resemblence to the Hylian Shield from The Legend of Zelda series.
- In the Racing part of Skylanders: SuperChargers, the Sky-Iron Shield provides invulnerability against any form of damage.
- Sky Iron is an alternate term for meteoric iron, given religious importance in Tibetan culture. Like the fairy repellant "cold iron" and Quicksilver, it's considered sacred and with the ability to repel evil.
