The Rampant Ruins is an old robot graveyard and the fourth level in Skylanders: Swap Force. The robots buried in these ruins were once powered by crystals of Petrified Darkness. The Skylanders venture to the Ruins to find out where the Evilizer crystals are coming from and stop whoever was behind the creation of the Evilizers.

Description

Rampant Ruins is a sprawling stone ruins filled with pyramid temples, crumbling bridges, and the remnants of broken robots. Vines, ferns, and trees have overgrown much of the level, and lakes of sickly green goo float in the air. Moonlight bathes the ruins in an unsettling aura, emphasized by the fog swirling over the ground and the bats flapping in the background.

Trivia

  • The monkey totem collectables in this level appear to be made of glowing green jade. However, the art that appears when collecting one depicts the statues as being made of plain gray stone, more akin to the composition of the Stone Monkey.
  • In Punk Shock's Soul Gem preview footage, Rampant Ruins appears to have a dark purple-blue sky with purple clouds, which differs from the level's final coloration.
  • Oddly, the level's lighting changes in the area surrounding the Speed Zone entrance. Stepping into this area will cause the moonlight to temporarily transform into sunlight.
  • When Vicarious Visions designed the robotic helmets scattered throughout the level, they kept the Arkeyan robots in mind as a subtle reference for young fans to pick up on.[1]
  • In Swap Force's alpha, Rampant Ruins reused music from Aqueduct and Creepy Citadel.[2]
  • Swap Force's alpha dialogue refers to a force field around the main temple, where the Tech Guardian (an early version of Evilized Glumshanks) was holed up. The Skylanders would have to breach this forcefield using the Stone Monkey.[3]
