“Ugh, "I'm a Skylander, we do nice things to each other, and kiss puppies, and chase rainbows". Gross.”
    —Dreamcatcher, Dream Girls

Dreamcatcher is one of the main antagonists of Skylanders Academy. She is a former Skylander cadet, who was expelled after terrorizing other students in their dreams. An episode after her introduction, she became a member of the Doom Raiders.

Background[]

Personality[]

According to Dreamcatcher, being good is boring, and she'd rather delight herself in driving people insane with her dream powers. Though she's still at odds with the Doom Raiders at times, she is willing to work together and hang out with them. For reasons unknown, she despises puppies, and is implied to like the idea of harming them in creative ways.

Biography[]

No, you’re not dreaming – there actually is a teenage girl’s head hovering above your bed. So flip on your night-light and find the nearest Skylander, because this newly-minted Doom Raider will drive you insane with her dream manipulation powers. For Dreamcatcher, the only thing lamer than going to school with the “Sky-losers”, is being on a team of "old people". They’re not even cool enough to know any of the slang she uses! But she’s all whatevs about that shade.

Abilities[]

In the dream realm, Dreamcatcher can manipulate the dreams of others, taking advantage of their fears to shapeshift the realm and its creatures to her desire. In the real world, however, she is much less powerful, though she can still use tornadoes to fight alongside the other Doom Raiders. She also has psychic powers to locate objects and fire magical blasts, and can make her eyes as bright as spotlights.

Story[]

History[]

Dreamcatcher is an evil dream manipulator who finds joy in doing evil by terrorizing others through their dreams. Her parents sent her to Skylanders Academy at the hopes that Dreamcatcher would be reformed.

Season 1[]

In Dream Girls, during Stealth Elf's show of agility in class, Dreamcatcher was the only student who showed little interest in the course and fell asleep during the lesson (with her eyelids marked with fake eyes). She would later begin to use her dream powers to give the students and staff of Skylanders Academy sheep phobia. Stealth Elf, who had been skipping sleep in preparation for her "Skills, Elements and Defense" speech, tracked down Dreamcatcher in her dreams and confronted the mischievous villain to put a stop to her plan. With the powers of the dream realm at her disposal, Dreamcatcher's power increased, allowing her to easily subdue Stealth Elf. However, the elf Skylander used the abilities of the dream realm to her advantage, immobilizing Dreamcatcher and defeating her.

The captured Dreamcatcher was later used as part of Stealth Elf's speech, chained by her braces. When Dreamcatcher asked if she could go back to being a cadet and pretend her villainous actions never happened, Stealth Elf refused and stated that she was straight going to Cloudcracker Prison for her crime; while Master Eon expelled Dreamcatcher and set to call her parents.

In Cloudcracker Prison, she made quick acquaintances with the Doom Raiders and was quickly accepted into their ranks, after insulting Broccoli Guy with audacity. When Stealth Elf, Spyro and Eruptor sent them all to The Hole after their threats and attempts to attack them, she combined her powers with the rest of the gang to open a wormhole and escape from the prison.

For the rest of the season, she makes no major appearances, staying at Kaos' Guest Castle and Falling Forest to avoid detection with the rest of the Doom Raiders, until they started their attack to the Academy. In the episode, she attempted to infiltrate the Academy ahead of time and ran into her comrades who had the same idea; and while arguing, they were found out by Ka-Boom and thrown out by the Skylanders and cadets. In their second attempt, with Kaossandra and Kaos' help, they successfully infiltrated the school and its Relics Room, but were stopped by the mysterious sorceress while attempting to betray her and fled with Kaos, empty-handed.

Trivia[]

  • According to Stealth Elf in Dream Girls, Dreamcatcher is fourteen years old. As of Season 3, she is the only character with a confirmed age, in the show or in the main canon.
  • Unlike her game counterpart, this version of Dreamcatcher is always stationary in the air. However, she bobs up and down while sleeping.
  • It is implied that Dreamcatcher had enrolled in the time period between the third and fourth episodes, as none of the characters pay attention to her drawn-in eyes in the class in Dream Girls and Hex appears surprised to see their appearance when she opens the real ones.
  • Dreamcatcher's parents live in another realm of conciousness, possibly deeper than the Dream Realm.
  • She is mentioned several times in Season 3 to be able to eat abstract concepts, such as the suffering of children.
