Dragons are one of the native species of Skylands. They come in all shapes and sizes and are closely connected to the elements. Younger dragons are highly adaptive to their surroundings, making the way they are raised a key factor in determining their adult forms, powers and personalities. It is mentioned that dragons are pranksters.[1]

Although the known trait for dragons is their ability to breathe fire, each dragon Skylander puts their own elemental twist on this talent.[2]

The dragon's realm is called Dragon's Peak, also known as the Island of Scalos, where the oldest and largest of their kind reside. Since few dragons other than the Skylanders are encountered elsewhere, the dragons may very well be one of the rarest species in all of Skylands. It is mentioned in many of the Dragons' biographies that they tend to be outsiders. Despite being shunned by those around them, dragons do have a strong sense of responsibility or purpose.

Purple Dragons, like Spyro and Malefor, are a rare species of dragon who are associated with the Magic element. This allows them to harness the power of the other elements.

    • Blackout's upgrade, "Cloud Gravity," from his "Prince of Darkness" path makes him capable of flying over enemies.
  • Camo, Blades, Echo, and Spotlight are the only dragons without the ability to make them travel faster.
  • While male dragons have teeth (except for Sunburn), female dragons are toothless.
  • All dragons in this game appear to be similarly-shaped quadrupeds with the exception of Fire Kraken who is a biped.
  • The only five elements to have more than one dragon are Earth, with Bash and Flashwing, Air, with Whirlwind and Blades, Fire, with Sunburn and Fire Kraken, Life, with Camo and High Five, and Water, with Zap and Echo (not counting variants).
    • Each of the previous elements received their second dragon in a different game after Spyro's Adventure.
  • Whirlwind, Sunburn, Camo, and High Five are currently the only draconic hybrids.
  • Fire Kraken, High Five, Sleep Dragon and Flam Bam are the only dragons with two words in their names instead of one (not counting variants).
  • Spitfire, the leader of the SuperChargers, greatly resembles a dragon.
  • The Skylander Dino-Rang is often mistaken for a dragon, which makes him angry.[3]
