Breezewing[1] is a scrapped Air Skylander character.

Character Development

This character's existence dates back to 2011 during the development of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure but she never made it into the game itself. She was later considered for Skylanders: ShapeShifters by Vicarious Visions, being paired with fellow scrapped Skylanders Krayken and Aftershock. Her attacks involved blowing wind, slashing with her claws and throwing her boomerang tail. When ShapeShifters eventually became Skylanders: Swap Force, Breezewing didn't make it into the final game. Instead her wind blow attack was used for Boom Jet, her claws were used for Free Ranger's slash blades and her boomerang tail ended up being an upgrade for Rattle Shake's snake shot.[2]

Breezewing would later make small cameos in some of the console game entries of the Skylanders series.

Trivia

  • Though she's referred to and shown alongside other named scrapped Skylanders from Spyro's Adventure and Swap Force development, oddly, her name is never revealed. She is simply referred to as an Air Skylander or a work-in-progress Vicarious Visions design.
    • In an early Wii build of Skylanders: Swap Force, this character has files referring to her as "Breezewing".[1]
  • Interestingly, she is the first and perhaps only female Skylander to be planned as a SWAP Force Skylander. However, Vicarious Visions wanted to take a "gender neutral approach" in order for swapping to make sense.[4] When she was scrapped, her traits were given to the male Skylanders, Boom Jet, Free Ranger and Rattle Shake.
    • Of the three, Rattle Shake is the only one of the Undead element. The rest are from the Air element.
    • Also of the three, Boom Jet is the only one who didn't appear in the 3DS starter pack.
