Battle Arenas are a Player-versus-Player (PvP) area where Skylanders can duel one another, based on various locations in the games. The inverse, Arena Battles, are contests held by Brock or Chill Bill where the player(s) fight various enemies under different handicaps, in that case taking place in the locations themselves after the previous owner's challenges were bested.

Battle Mode Types

Arena Rumble

The goal of Arena Rumble is to reduce the opponent's health to 0. Several mechanics take place, such as elemental strengths and weaknesses, interactable objects, hazards and extra weapons.

Sky Goals

Carry the electric football through the goal posts to score 7 points, or throw the ball through the goal to score 3 points. Damage the opponent to make them fumble the ball. This mode is unavaliable in Swap Force.

SkyGem Master

Collect five SkyGems before the opponent does to win SkyGem Master. Single gems fall from the sky periodically. Damaging the opponent will cause them to drop some of their gems. Once they're on the ground, any Skylander can grab them. This mode is unavaliable in Swap Force.

Ring Out

Fill a Skylanders' attack meter before the opponent does to send the opponent flying out of the ring. If the opponent fills their meter, players will still have a chance not to get out of the map.

Arena Battles

Arena Battles are unlocked after their corresponding story mode Chapter is complete, or in rare cases, funded by the Skylander with Auric's help. In Skylanders: Swap Force, Bonus Missions serve a similar purpose at times.

Trivia

  • For the 'One point of Health' challenges, if you have an attack that can heal yourself (like Chop Chop's Vamparic Aura), you will heal but your health will automatically drop back down to 1.
    • The Skylander Quest to beat an Arena Challenge without taking damage does not complete with these, as the game removes most of your health as it starts.
  • In Skylanders: Swap Force, when in PvP mode, all Skylander elemental advantages have been eliminated. This now allows a fair chance of winning for any Skylander in battle.
  • The Rumble Club appears to be free or does not make enough profit, as their Clubhouse is relatively cheap but still needs the Skylanders' help to be funded.
  • In its earliest alpha build, Skylanders: Giants's battle arenas go by placeholder names.[1]
    • Sunrise Towers was called Two Towers.
    • Lockdown Islands was called Three Islands.
    • Wheel of Power was called Element Wheel.
    • Docks of Doom was called Powerup Pedestal. Mabu originally served as spectators in the arena, and they would leap and cheer when a player scored a hit.
    • Cliff Dive Crag was called Cliff Jumping.
    • Metal Hive was called Tech Chamber.
    • Slime Pipe was called Slippery Tunnel.
    • Frost Fight was called Ice Bowl.
  • In Giants's alpha, the announcer says "Anvil Rain!" to announce Skylanders without finalized names.
  • Exhaust Junction's second challenge is a parody of movie sequel titles, in which it is a common cliche to have "revenge" or "vengeance" of something.
  • As seen in concept art, Slime Pipe was once part of Drill-X's Big Rig.[2]
  • Baaaaad Idea! is the only arena battle to have four phases instead of three.
  • Conversely, Bubble Buster is the only arena battle to consist of one long phase.
